Airport = Faaa, north west coast of French Polynesia Island, 5km west of Papeete Town.
Visas = European Union and most other European nationals and Australian nationals may visit for up to 3 months without a visa. Nationals of USA, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea and most South and Central American nationals may stay up to one month without a visa. Other nationals will require qa visa obtainable from their nearest Frenc Embassy or Consulate.
Vaccinations = None required except for yellow fever and cholera if coming from an infected area. Importation of plants, animals and associated products is strictly prohibited.
Transfers = No official airport bus but Le Truk stops right opposite the airport for transfers into Papeete and along the west coast. Taxis are available at all hours but are expensive. Tour Charter Companies meet those on package holidays and some smaller pensions provide meet and greet.
Banking = The Banque Soccredo and Banque de Polynesie open for all international flights but exchanging travellers cheques incurs a hefty commission There is a 24-hr ATM machine at the airport. The best currency is to have is a credit card, or arrive with some local currency in your pocket.
Departure Tax = Not applicable.
Time = 10 hours behind GMT (London), 2 hours behind North America Pacific Coast and 22 hours behind Auckland.
Others = Some duty free shops, vehicle rentals and information booth. Snack bar and post office but no luggage storage or showers.
